Calf’s Choice Total™ (“CCT”) is a family of dried bovine colostrum products used to replace or supplement maternal colostrum.
Two Important Reasons to Use CCT?
1. To Prevent Failure of Passive Transfer (“FPT”):
CCT aids in the treatment of FPT, a condition resulting from insufficient immunoglobulins (the portion of colostrum that contains the protective antibodies) being passed from mother to calf after birth. FPT may lead to serious calf heath issues early in life, including scours and pneumonia, and lost productivity later in life. Potential economic losses from FPT include:
A U.S. research study showed that 41% of dairy calves had serum immunoglobulin (“Ig”) levels less than 10 grams per liter, and thus suffered from FPT. 4 Even under good management conditions, it is believed that 25% of calves do not receive adequate levels of colostrum.
